About

I started the blog to help educate parent’s on how to know what their children are up to while they are online. Most parents do not know what their children are doing, who they are talking to and what sites they regularly visit. But you need to know.

How many times have you heard about a child or teenager establishing an online relationship with a person via a social networking website such as myspace. Then at some point they decide your teenager and the other person are going to get together an meet some where. Sounds pretty scary. You don’t know squat about the other person, who they really are. For all you know your child could be communicating with a known predator and your teenager could be the next victim.

Or, it could be just another teenager who has similar interests as your child does.

The problem is you teenager is too trusting and doesn’t have the real world smarts to be able to figure out if the other person could be a threat.

How many teens who are on myspace or the like realize how much private information they are giving out to the world? What do you mean? Most teens will put into their myspace pages basic information such as the city they live in, the high school they attend, activities and places they like to hang out at. If they have a job the name and location of the employeer. Sounds pretty inocent until, you start to realize how easy it is to take that information and figure out within a few miles or so where your teenager lives! Really? Yes, really.

Every parent needs to sit down with their kids and review all of the information that your child puts up on the internet and help your children realize that some of the information, although it seems to be ok, will give up too much private information abou themselves and their family.
